Membership of the Society is open
(a) Individuals involved in a professional, managerial or operational capacity, whether full of part time, in emergency planning and management.
(b) Individuals with an interest in emergency planning or who is engaged in full time study related to the field of emergency planning.
The Society has six levels of membership
Associate: This is the enrolment level for all those joining the Society. All Associates are entitled to full voting rights within the Society and are eligible to stand for office at branch level.
Member: Progression to Member status can be achieved by completing the membership upgrade scheme. Members are entitled to full voting rights and are eligible to stand for office at both Branch and national levels. Members are entitled to the post-nominal of M.E.P.S (Member of the Emergency Planning Society).
Fellow: Progression to Fellow status can be achieved by completing the Fellow upgrade. Any Member of the Society may apply to progress to Fellow they must meet the progression criteria. Fellows have full voting rights and are eligible to stand for office at both Branch and national levels. Fellows are entitled to the post-nominal of F.E.P.S (Fellow of the Emergency Planning Society).
Student: Applicable to individuals who are in full time study related to the field of emergency planning.
Retired: Members, on retirement, may apply to transfer to the category of Retired member. Retired members do not have the right to vote or stand for office within the Society but are entitled to retain the post-nominal to which they were previously entitled.
Honorary: Honorary membership may be granted by the Board of Directors to any person whose contribution to the objectives of the Society has merited such recognition. Honorary members are not entitled to vote or stand for office within the Society but are entitled to retain the post-nominal to which they were previously entitled.
