Membership Upgrade


General Upgrade Information.

Fees for upgrading are now:

Associate to Member to £60.00

Member to Fellow to £100.00

Payment is required prior to any application being considered by the assessors and one

re-submission is allowed.

On behalf of the Committee I’m proud to say that 98% of Associate to Member applicants are now informed of their result within 28 days of their submission to Cardiff, many in as little as 7 days. Member to Fellow candidates are generally given an indication of how their application is progressing within 8 weeks. On every occasion both grades are now submitted to the next Board meeting with confirmation of upgrade given very quickly following the meeting.

An application for an invitation to Fellowship of the Society will require:

·         Completion of an application form with full professional history

·         A minimum of 2 years as a full Member

·         Confirmation of current employment standing within the profession

·         Minimum of 1500 points (previously 2000 points)

·         Two sponsors (Either two Fellows of the Society or one Fellow and one Member of not less than three years standing)

·         Possibly an interview to establish a notable contribution to the Society or Emergency Management in general

·         A minimum of 6 years in the profession (previously 10 years).

An application to upgrade from Associate to Member now requires:

·           A request for confirmation of current employment standing within the profession.

·           A minimum of 6 months membership of the Society

At the September 2009 Board meeting the committee were allowed to consider applications from specialists within emergency planning and business continuity disciplines. Further information is available from Cardiff office.
