Ian Ramsay has been an Emergency Resilience Manager for a Primary Care Trust since July 2008 and has been invited to set up and Chair the Health Professional Working Group for the Emergency Planning Society. An experienced Emergency Resilience Manager, he is a Fellow of the Emergency Planning Society and holds a Diploma in Health Emergency Planning. He joined NHS Barnsley following a 30 year career with West Yorkshire Police where he performed various policing roles including 4 years as the Head of Contingency and Operational Planning. During this time he was responsible for creating and maintaining many Major Incident plans including counter terrorism measures. He is Nationally Accredited as a Bronze/Silver commander and a Tactical Advisor and as such has acted as a responder or an advisor on many high profile events. Also spending 2 years as the Head of Public Order training he was responsible for training senior police officers from around the country in their roles when managing a multi-agency response to major incidents. He is looking forward to utilising his experiences to establish and develop this Professional Working Group to promote the professional interests of EPS members.
