Professional Working Groups - Human Aspects


Welcome to the Emergency Planning Society Human Aspects Group Pages.

The Human Aspects Group works to ensure that the needs of the individual are always catered for when dealing with an emergency or disaster.

These pages contain guidance documents on Human Aspects of Disaster, a Code of Respect and Checklist, as well as contact details for the group committee, minutes of meetings held and the Terms of Reference for the group.

Terms of Reference

  1. To identify, promote share best practice in responding to the humanitarian aspects of a major emergency
  2. To represent the Emergency Planning Society regarding best practice when responding to the human aspects of major emergencies
  3. To report to the Emergency Planning Society via the Professional Working Group regarding humanitarian aspects
  4. To arrange seminars/workshops to promote good practice and sharing of information
  5. To encourage Local Authorities to provide a trained team of responders to support those affected
  6. To explore methods of supporting those requiring longer term care
  7. To work with other agencies to develop National Standards
  8. To promote partnership working with other responding agencies
  9. To encourage the development of local protocols between responding agencies to provide a seamless response
