An Introduction to London
London is unique. It is the United Kingdom’s capital and largest city with a population of over 7.5 million. It is the heart of the state of bureaucracy and home of the British Monarchy.
Divided by the River Thames the city is home to many so-called ‘postcard’ targets. These include the Houses of Parliament, Buckingham Palace and the city also has a complex transport and communications infrastructure plus a substantial transient and tourist population.
London is the UK’s prime economic site on par with New York with a rich history dating back to its founding in Roman times. It is a global capital of culture, fashion, finance, politics, and trade. In 2012 it will host the greatest show on earth the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
