Regional Branches - Current Activities
The Northern branch meets on average 4 times per year. The meetings provide an excellent opportunity for Branch members to exchange views and information on emergency planning issues on a regular basis. Branch meetings incorporate informative visits to places of interest for members. Visits over the last 3 years have included:
- ICI Wilton - a site tour plus presentation on the lessons learnt from the BASF fire RAF Boulmer - a site tour plus a presentation on air rescue operations
- Railtrack Headquarters, York - a tour of the Railtrack and Regional Railways Control Rooms plus a presentation on rail safety
- Northumbria Police Headquarters, Ponteland - a tour of the Control Centre plus a presentation on how emergency calls are logged and actioned
- Hartlepool Nuclear Power Station - a site tour plus a presentation on emergency planning issues in the nuclear industry
- Berge Hugin, Hebburn - a tour of a floating oil production, storage and offloading facility plus presentations on the facility's emergency response arrangements and differences between on-shore and off-shore emergency responses
- Tyne Tees Coastguard Sub-Centre - a site tour plus a presentation on sea rescue operations
- Stadium of Light (Home of Sunderland AFC), Sunderland - a site tour plus a presentation on crowd safety
- British Gas Transco, Killingworth - a tour of the Operations Room plus a presentation on gas pipeline safety and millennium contingency planning
- BT Call Centre,Longbenton- a site tour plus a presentation on business continuity/emergency planning considerations for a telecommunications provider
- Teesside International Airport - a site tour incorporating the Air Traffic Control Centre and the specialist fire facilities
- Northumbria Police National Diving and Marine School - a site tour of the marine training facilities and the Northumbria Launch plus a presentation on police diving
