Study Tour of Criminal Court of Justice
Parkgate Street, Dublin
----------------------------------------------------------------
23rd September 2010 at 3pm
We are pleased to announce the launch of our Study Tours. The first tour will take
place at the new Criminal Court in Parkgate Street.
The building was opened in January 2010 and has largely replaced the four Courts
as the location for criminal trials. Among the courts meeting in the building are the
District Court of Criminal Appeal, the Dublin Circuit Criminal Court and Central
Criminal Court.
The building has facilities to hold up to 100 prisoners in the basement, with separate
entrances for each court. Jurors are also based in a separate part of the building,
with their own court entrances. Victims and victim support organisations also have use of a suite of rooms.
The building contains room for 150 barristers as well as offices for Gardaí, the
Director of Public Prosecutions, Probation Service, Law Society of Ireland, Judges'
Chambers, Press Rooms and Management Offices. (Material drawn from Coulter,
Irish Times, Nov. 2009)
The nature of the tour means numbers are limited to 20 members.
