About RSS Feeds

What does RSS do?

The Emergency Planning Society RSS feed allows members to be kept informed when new information is added to our web site. You can get the latest updates as soon as they are published, without having to remember to visit each site every day. It takes the hassle out of staying up-to-date, by showing you the very latest information that you are interested in. RSS stands for 'Really Simple Syndication'.

How do I start using the EPS RSS feed?

You will need a news reader - this is software that checks RSS feeds and lets you read any new articles that have been added to them. There are many different versions, some of which are accessed using a browser, and some of which you download to your PC. Browser-based news readers let you catch up with your RSS feed subscriptions from any computer, whereas downloadable applications let you store them on your PC.

Our RSS feeds are shown below:

Here are some popular news readers you can use:

Windows users:

Newz Crawler

FeedDemon

Awasu

Mac OSX users:

Newsfire

NetNewsWire

Other readers (indexed by Google)

Some modern browsers, including Firefox, Opera and Safari, automatically check for RSS feeds for you when you visit a website, and display an RSS icon when they find one. Click the icon to view the RSS updates. This can make subscribing to RSS feeds much easier. For more details on these, please check their websites.

Not a member? Join up and you'll receive our regular newsletter giving you the very latest information - direct to your desktop.
