Republic of Ireland
The Republic of Ireland branch was formed in 2002. It has in excess of 100 members that come from a variety of backgrounds in both the public and private sectors.
Members come from the following areas: Ambulance, Business Continuity, Civil Defence, Coastguard, Communications, Consultancy, Electricity, Financial Services, Fire, Food, Garda, Health, Industry, IT, Legal, Local Authorities, Media, Pharmaceutical and Chemical companies, Public Relations, State and Semi-State Agencies, Training, Transport and Voluntary Agencies.
The branch holds quarterly meetings dealing with appropriate topics. These meetings provide an opportunity for members to meet and the topics are chosen to provide something of interest to members from all areas of activity.
In addition the branch organises occasional Seminars and Conferences. As well as meetings in Dublin, Cork and Shannon have already been venues and it is planned to have further meetings around the country.
There is a close working relationship with the Northern Ireland branch and there is a joint meeting every year.
If you are interested in joining please contact one of the members of the Executive or sign up online.
The ROI branch of the EPS will continue to represent members of the emergency management profession as their recognised professional body in the Republic of Ireland, providing education and learning through study visits and seminars, as well as networking opportunities for members.
We will continue to align with the wider EPS body through direct contact and participation in working committees, Professional Working Groups and the NOC.
The Branch takes its lead on terms of reference and by-laws from head office in Easingwold, and actively contributes to EPS strategy through the National Operations Committee (NOC), which is made up of the Chairs of all EPS branches.
The Branch hosts a number of seminars and other events throughout the calendar. Following a review of branch activities in 2014 the branch has hosted a number of ‘breakfast briefing’ type of events, with specialist guest speakers from a variety of fields. We have recently had a cyber security expert, a nationally recognised journalist from the print media, and an EM research symposium. We also visited Croke Park on all-Ireland football Semi-final day where the GAA and the Gardai hosted 10 members on an ‘event management’ study tour.
The branch has an active core membership and is actively seeking new members – please contact email@example.com to get further information on membership.
The Branch has close links with Dublin City University, who kindly host a number of our briefings and seminars throughout the year. All three Principal Emergency Services are represented in the Branch, with committee members from two of the three. The private sector and academia are also represented on the Branch committee.
